“We would like to offer you a scholarship” was music to Dylan Livingston-Keeter’s ears when he was accepted to East Carolina University. The message that he had earned a Chancellor’s Scholarship carried influence when Livingston-Keeter, from Morehead City, chose to attend.

The multi-million dollar commitment from the Maynard family enhances the James and Connie Maynard Scholars program and establishes the award as one of the leading scholarships for training educators in North Carolina.
ECU music students see big benefits from long-time faculty member’s gift
A gift that doubled the East Carolina University School of Music’s ability to give student scholarships has begun benefiting those music students — especially at the graduate level. The School of Music was able to begin giving scholarships from the Beatrice A. Chauncey Endowed Scholars Program during the 2024-25 academic year.
ECU’s dedication to educating students, serving the public and transforming the region sets us apart from our sister institutions. But we couldn’t achieve our goals without alumni and friends who support the college philanthropically.
