The East Carolina University community mourns the sudden passing of Dr. Markus Mosley, whose loss has deeply affected his family, friends, mentors and classmates. While we grieve his passing, we also celebrate and remain profoundly grateful for the lasting impact he made during his remarkable life.

Dr. Mosley was an energetic, bright, compassionate and dedicated individual who pursued his dream of becoming a dentist with unwavering commitment. His vision extended beyond personal achievement—he aspired to bring affordable and quality dental care to the rural communities of Eastern North Carolina, where he has strong family ties. A recent graduate of the ECU School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Mosley had just begun his residency rotation at The Ohio State University Hospital when his life was cut short.

Dr. Mosley’s presence was truly inspiring. His kindness, optimism and infectious personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Whether in the classroom, clinic or community, he approached each day with enthusiasm and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of others.

Though his life was tragically brief, Dr. Mosley’s light continues to shine through the individuals he touched. His energy, compassion, dedication and love for service will remain an enduring part of the ECU legacy.

To honor his memory, and to continue his commitment to improving access to dental care, contributions may be made to The Markus Mosley Memorial Scholarship Fund to support future dental students who share his passion for serving others, ensuring that his spirit and mission live on for generations to come.
